Refund and Cancellation Policy

Effective date: August 6, 2026
Last updated: August 6, 2026

This policy explains when you can cancel, when you can get your money back, and how to ask. It is part of our Terms of Service — §9 of those Terms covers the same ground in summary, and this policy is the detail. Where the two differ, this policy governs refunds.

Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be limited by agreement.

1. Who you are buying from

Paid plans and one-off scans are sold and processed by our authorized reseller acting as merchant of record. That reseller is the seller of record, appears on your card statement and invoice, and issues any refund we approve back to your original payment method. It is identified at checkout. We decide whether a refund is due; the reseller carries it out.

2. Try before you pay

SyteCheck has a free plan that does not expire and does not require a card. It runs real scans of your own site and returns a real report. We recommend using it before buying, because it is the most reliable way to know whether the Service suits you. There is no separate paid trial.

3. Cancelling a subscription

You can cancel at any time from the Billing page in your account. No email, phone call, or notice period is required.

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Your plan stays active until then, and the cancelled period is not refunded or prorated.
  • You will not be charged again after you cancel.
  • When the period ends, your account reverts to the free plan and that plan's scan quota, category access, and retention window.
  • We keep your full scan history for a further 14 days after any downgrade, so you have time to export anything you want to keep. That date is shown on your billing page and in the email we send when a plan ends.

Switching between paid plans is not a cancellation and is not refunded — it is prorated. Moving up charges the difference for the rest of the current period; moving down credits the unused portion against your next invoice.

4. Right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers)

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you have 14 days from the conclusion of the contract — in practice, the date of purchase — to withdraw from it without giving a reason, and receive a refund.

You can exercise this right yourself from the withdrawal control on the Billing page in your account, or by emailing [email protected]. We offer this control to every customer inside the 14-day window, wherever you are, rather than asking you to prove where you live.

Where you asked us to start providing the Service during that period — which is what happens when you run a scan on a paid plan — we may deduct an amount proportionate to what you used before withdrawing.

5. Refunds outside the withdrawal period

Outside the 14-day window, subscription fees are non-refundable, because the Service was available to you for the period you paid for. We will, however, refund or credit in these cases:

  • The Service did not work. If a fault on our side stopped you using SyteCheck for a material part of a billing period — sustained downtime, or scans that failed for a reason attributable to us and could not be re-run — tell us and we will refund or credit that period in proportion to what you lost.
  • You were charged in error. A duplicate charge, a charge after a cancellation took effect, or a charge on the wrong plan is refunded in full.
  • An unintended renewal. If an automatic renewal caught you out and you have not used the Service in the new period, contact us within 14 days of the charge and we will cancel and refund it.

We do not refund on the grounds that a scan reported problems you did not expect, or that you did not use the scans your plan included. A report that runs and returns results has been delivered, whatever score it gave.

6. One-off scans

A one-off scan is a single delivered report, so it stops being refundable once the report is produced.

  • If the scan fails to produce a report and we cannot re-run it successfully, we refund it in full.
  • If the scan completes, it is not refundable, except under the withdrawal right in §4 or where consumer law requires otherwise. A scan may legitimately report that some categories were blocked by the target site's own bot protection — the report is still delivered, and we cannot control a third party's blocking.
  • An unused one-off scan credit is refundable within 14 days of purchase.

7. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] from the address on your SyteCheck account, and include:

  • your account email address;
  • the invoice or receipt number from your payment provider; and
  • a short description of what went wrong.

We aim to respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are issued by our reseller to your original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.

8. Chargebacks

Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback costs us a fee and takes weeks to resolve, and in almost every case we can settle the matter faster directly. We may suspend an account with an unresolved chargeback until it is closed.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version in force is the one published here on the day of your purchase, and a change never reduces a refund right on a purchase you have already made.
